Student of the Week

Dear Parents of Zarrow Students,
As you are aware we are doing Student of the Week again this year. The Student of the Week Poster will be completed at home. We hope this project provides special family time together.
In addition to this letter and the attached questions, your child has brought home an 18”X 12” piece of construction paper in which to make his/her poster. Please turn in the poster the Friday prior to the assembly, so it can be laminated and returned as an heirloom.
We ask that you sit down with your child and help your child with the poster. I have included plenty of questions and you can select the question(s) your child wants to address on his/her poster. Your child may want to make a collage of things that represent him /her. Please help your child draw and/or find magazine pictures or photos that represent your family.
Your child will present his/her poster at the Monday Morning Assembly. Your child will tell the assembly one piece of information that he/she thinks is most important or interesting from the poster. The attached questions can be a springboard for determining what question to address in the assembly. After the assembly, the poster will be posted throughout the week in the front hall near the cafeteria.
Please let your child rehearse his/her presentation prior to the Monday morning assembly. Encourage your child: (1) to speak slowly and distinctly so everyone can hear him/her; (2) remind your child to hold the poster between the shoulders and the waist (otherwise, some children hold the poster in front of the face); and (3) ask your child to speak so he/she can be heard.
We are excited to hear about your child and look forward to seeing you at the “Rise and Shine” assembly!
Hasta la vista!
Dear Parent,
Listed below are the dates of the Monday Morning Assemblies. Next to each date is the name of the student who will be presented from our class. May I suggest that you write the date your child will be Student of the Week on your calendar? In addition, I will let your child know when it is his/her turn for this recognition.
Two weeks prior to your child being Student of the Week, your child will bring home an 18” x 12” piece of construction paper in which to make his/her poster We will send home a simple rubric designed to aid you in this family project. Please turn in the poster the Friday prior to the assembly on Monday, so it can be laminated.
