Classroom Procedures
Procedures for Handing in Papers
1. First and last name, number, and date in the right-top corner of the paper.
2. Holes on the left.
3. Check for spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors.
4. Check for complete, correct, and comprehensive content.
5. Place it in the tray.
Sustained Silent Reading Procedures
1. Use your library book or choose a classroom book, find an area to read, and sit quietly or as indicated by your teacher.
2. Read silently, starting with the first page of the book, or continuing from where you left off.
3. You may read only the book you choose and may not move from your area without the teacher’s permission.
Active Listening Procedures
1. Sit up.
2. Lean forward.
3. Act interested.
4. Track the speaker.
5. Give the speaker your undivided attention, listening with your eyes, ears, and heart.
Intrapersonal Procedure
1. Work alone. Work silently.
2. Politely ask your teacher for help if you do not understand something.
3. Check your finished work for evidence that it is an example of your “Personal Best”
Group Work Procedures
1. Soft voices.
2. Take turns talking.
3. Stay in your area.
4. See three before me.
5. Share ideas.
6. Do your “Personal Best.”
7. Clean up.
Group Roles
1. Recorder: writes all ideas, takes notes, records assignments, records data, and writes procedures.
2. Reporter: shares ideas generated during the group work; reads notes taken by recorder; checks for understanding; and relates any group questions to the teacher.
3. Encourager: reminds the group to use soft voices, “Peps” up the group, maintains a sense of order within the group, encourages everyone to contribute, reminds group to be active listeners, and acts as a timer when needed.
4. Supply person: hands out materials, collects papers, checks supplies, and coordinates the return of all supplies, materials, and resources to designated areas.
CAFETERIA:
1. Take milk, utensils, and food before you go to the table.
2. Sit on bottoms in assigned seat.
3. Use quiet “Spanish” voices.
5. Raise hand to get out of seat.
6. Eat two items before getting seconds.
7. Pick up all trash on table and floor.
BATHROOM:
1. Be quick.
2. Be quiet.
3. Be clean (1 soap, 2 shakes, 3 pulls).
4. Tuck in shirts.
Outside RECESS:
1. Use hands and feet for safe playing.
2. Climb on playground equipment only.
3. Include all friends.
4. Use kind words when playing.
Inside Recess Procedure
1. Choose a game and a place to play.
2. Quietly play your game.
3. Leave your area only with your teacher’s permission.
When recess is over, put games away
SPECIALS Procedures
Entering
1. Enter gym quietly.
2. Walk along black line to your place.
3. Sit quietly in assigned place.
Leaving
4. Walk quietly to end of hall.
5. Sit criss-cross/hands in lap.
6. Sit facing front doors.
ASSEMBLY:
7. Sit criss-cross in assigned area.
8. Sit quietly.
9. Respect other people’s personal space.
10. Listen attentively.
11. Participate.
End of the Day Procedures
2. Be organized. Copy assignments in daily assignment book (planner).
3. Be responsible. Straighten up all the learning materials needed to do your assignments.
4. Organize the items in your area.
5. Make sure the floor around you is clean.
6. Wait for your teacher to sign your planner.
7. Wait for your teacher’s instruction and pick up your chair.
8. Line up to go to your locker.
9. Silently stand next to your locker.
10. Wait until dismissed by your teacher.
11. Say goodbye in a pleasant manner.
