Mayo Demonstration Academy

The novel concept of age groupings instead of the standard grade system is just one hallmark of Mayo Demonstration Academy.

Educators there employ the Seven Learning Community Guidelines: Personal Best, Mutual Respect, Appreciations/No Put-Downs, Attentive Listening, Trustworthiness, Truthfulness and the Right to Pass. Add a core of “life skills”— examples include integrity, perseverance, cooperation, effort—and you have the backbone of a character education program that teaches children the importance of community and mutual respect.
