Thoreau Demonstration Academy
Thoreau Demonstration Academy has earned national recognition for its research-based, brain-compatible teaching and learning environment. Tulsa Public Schools’ Exemplary School of 2004-05, Thoreau was among a handful of middle schools to earn distinction as an Oklahoma Best Practice model in 2006.
Thoreau’s Microsociety program was recently named an Ambassador Microsociety, earning the nation’s top middle school rating. The award-winning program immerses students in their own society, complete with a constitution, legal system, elected officials, an economy, even a television studio.

with confident, intellectually-stimulated students who are prepared to
take on the world.
