Daniel Webster High School’s historic and scenic campus is the site of some of Tulsa Public Schools’ most advanced technology. The Broadcasting, Digital Media and Marketing Magnet provides students with essential knowledge and skills for building a career in the visual and print media industries.

Students receive classroom and on-the-job experience through a curriculum that’s been developed by leaders in professional associations, institutions of higher education, and career technology.

An on-campus, state-of-the-art television studio affords students the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting as they run the district’s own cable television station.

Partnerships with local media provide students with real-world expertise and ample opportunity for hands-on learning through mentoring and internships.

Information Technology Strand

Information Technology helps meet the need to bridge the ever-growing “digital divide.” Webster’s Information Technology Strand helps students develop the problem-solving skills to prepare them for postsecondary education and successful careers.

Through curriculum and hands-on work experience, they’ll gain an understanding of the real connections between their education and the workplace.

9th Grade:

Graphic Design; Computer Repair; Foreign Language II

11th Grade:
Cisco Networking I; Fundamentals of Web Design

12th Grade:
Cisco Networking II; Programming-Scripting Language Fundamentals; Post-Secondary Elective; Senior Internship

Digital Media Broadcasting Strand

Students who express interest and exhibit talent in film or television production will appreciate Webster’s Digital Media Broadcasting strand. Students learn to communicate ideas through the use of text, graphics, audio and video in the district’s cable TV station at Webster. They operate remote cameras, nonlinear video editing equipment and still cameras for real-world experience in media production.

9th Grade:

10th Grade:
Foreign Language I; Media Broadcasting I (TV/Video I); Multimedia / Image Management.

11th Grade:

Entrepreneurship I & II; Post- Secondary Elective; Senior Internship.

Journalism, Marketing and Advertising Strand

Journalism, Marketing and Graphic Design offers a wide variety of graphic techniques for students interested in storytelling through graphics and video.

A comprehensive computer graphics and web design lab allows students to exercise their creative muscle in preprint production, creative writing, typography, advertising, fashion/interior design, photography and illustration.

Instructors emphasize visual and written communication to create marketing strategies for real businesses. Students interested in print journalism, digital media and web design, computer graphics, advertising or public relations will excel in this strand.
