The mission of Tulsa Public Schools is to provide quality learning experiences for every student, every day, without exception. Tulsa Public Schools is committed to increasing educational opportunities for our students. We have a rich heritage in providing educational opportunities which enable all students to achieve their highest potential. Our magnet schools provide opportunities for your child to focus on his or her special interests while receiving a solid foundation in traditional academic areas. These are designed to give each student a variety of options. We further intend that this transfer process be as uncomplicated, equitable and transparent as possible.

Some magnet schools have a competitive entrance process, requiring an entrance examination, interview, or audition. Other magnet schools use a lottery system. Most magnet schools concentrate on a particular discipline or area of study (such as International Baccalaureate, Micro Society, Language Immersion, Fine and Performing Arts, Restaurant, Lodging and Health Management, Scientific & Technological Utilization, and Broadcasting and Digital Media).

How and when will I be notified of my child’s acceptance?

Selection process for academic entrance magnets will be complete February 5th. Letters will be sent to parents and acceptances posted on TPS website. SID’s (Student identification numbers) will be used for identification on the website. Parents must notify schools and accept the student’s position at that school by February 12th. Language Immersion schools acceptance letters will be mailed March 31st.

If my child is currently on transfer do I have to reapply?

If your child is currently on transfer and will be in the same school next year, with the exception of the four-year-old program at Eisenhower, you do not need to make application to renew the transfer for the 2010-2011 school year. Your child’s transfer will be renewed automatically as he/she moves up to the next grade in the same school unless you make a written request to have the transfer cancelled. Children on transfer into a four-year-old-program at Eisenhower will need to reapply and be accepted if they wish to remain in Eisenhower for kindergarten.

Open County Transfer forms must be submitted between January 1 and April 1. Open County Transfers are automatically renewed for 2010-2011 school year. If your child is on an Emergency County Transfer you will need to come to Room 103, before April 1, to complete an Open County Transfer.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to educate your child. Tulsa Public Schools is the District of Choice!
