Partners in Education
Partners in Education is a collaborative effort between the Tulsa Metro Chamber and Tulsa Public Schools. The program's focus is to link TPS students with community resources in order to provide the knowledge and skills needed for future success. Partners and schools choose their level of involvement, which may include (but not limited to) volunteering within the school, in-kind contributions or financial assistance. The goal of the Partners in Education program is to link community resources with the schools in order to provide children with the knowledge and skills needed for future success.
Formerly known as “Adopt-A-School,” the Partners in Education program is a joint effort between the Tulsa Metro Chamber and Tulsa Public Schools.
Since its inception in 1983, Tulsa's Partners in Education program has benefited countless young people by bringing more volunteers and resources into the schools.
There are currently more than 520 partnerships - including area businesses, churches, and community organizations – supporting 84 schools and programs within Tulsa Public Schools.
There are a number of ways in which partners are involved with the schools:
- Serving as volunteers by reading to students, mentoring during the lunch hour, or serving as guest speakers
- Donating school supplies
- Recognizing top-performers with victory parties and other incentive programs
- Sharing a company's technical expertise with a school
- Awarding attendance or good behavior in the classroom
- Hosting teacher appreciation lunches or providing teacher appreciation awards
- Catering PTA meetings to encourage parent participation
- Many, many other ways!
