The Board will be holding interviews with:

1/23/23 Update on process for consideration of applicants for appointment to represent Board District 2

As of Monday, Jan. 23, the Board of Education has 10 applicants for appointment to represent Board District 2. Click here to view those applications. The Board will hold a series of special meetings on Jan. 24, Jan. 25, and Jan. 26 to interview those applicants.





Requirements to serve as a member of the Tulsa Board of Education:

  • You must be a registered voter registered with the Tulsa County election board at an address located within the geographical boundaries of election District 2 for six months.
    • The applicable boundaries for election District 2 are those approved by the board on December 12, 2022. Click here to view a map District 2 or click here to view descriptions of the District 2 boundaries.
      • The school sites physically located within the relevant boundaries are Kendall Whittier, McKinley, Mitchell, Owen, Sequoyah, Springdale, and Emerson elementary schools, Unity Learning Academy, Carver Middle School, Will Rogers College Middle and High School, and Booker T. Washington High School.
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
  • You must not be an employee of the district.
  • You must not be a first- or second- degree relative - by blood relation or marriage - to a district employee or a current board member. (These relatives include spouses, children or children’s spouses, parents or parents’ spouses, grandchildren or grandchildren’s spouses, grandparents or grandparents’ spouses, siblings/half-siblings or their spouses, spouse’s children or spouse’s parents, spouse’s grandchildren or spouse’s grandparents, spouse’s siblings.)

You are not eligible to be a board member if - within the last 15 years - you have done any of the following and not received a pardon:

  • Been convicted of a misdemeanor involving embezzlement or a felony under the laws of Oklahoma or of the United States;
  • Have entered a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to a misdemeanor involving embezzlement or a felony;
  • Have been convicted of a crime in another state that would have been a misdemeanor involving embezzlement or a felony under the laws of Oklahoma;
  • Have entered a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to such crime.
