APPLY TO REPRESENT BOARD DISTRICT FIVE

Effective December 18, 2018, pursuant to Board Policy 1102, the Tulsa Board of Education seeks qualified applicants to be considered for appointment into the board seat representing School Board District Five.  

Applications must be submitted online, via email to Clerk of the Board Cindy Hutchings, or hand-delivered to the Education Service Center at 3027 S. New Haven Avenue in Tulsa.

Applications are due no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, january 11, 2019.

The person elected to the District Five board seat would serve the remainder of the term through 2020.

INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicant must be a registered voter with the Tulsa County Election Board residing within the geographical boundaries of District Five for at least six months prior to the date of their application for appointment.
  • Applicant must hold a minimum of a high school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency. 
  • Applicant cannot be employed by Tulsa Public Schools or related within the second degree to any district employee or member of the Board.

School Board District Five is bounded by the Arkansas River to the west and extends as far east as South Yale Ave. The northern boundary is E. 11th St. and the southern boundary lies just south of Interstate 44. The district includes the following schools: Eliot, Lanier, Mayo, and Wright elementary schools, and Edison Preparatory School.

Application Process

Applications must submitted online, via email to Clerk of the Board Cindy Hutchings, or by hand-delivery to the Education Service Center at 3027 S. New Haven Avenue in Tulsa no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019.

The person elected to the District Five board seat would serve the remainder of Dr. Decker's term through 2020.

Applicants may be invited to meet with one or more current members of the Tulsa Board of Education. All applicants will have an opportunity to provide brief remarks at a Tulsa Board of Education meeting. Board meetings take place at 6:30 p.m. and are held in the Selman Room at the Education Service Center at 3027 S. New Haven Ave. in Tulsa.
