Welcome back to school!

We were excited to welcome your children back to campus yesterday! In case you missed it, here are some important things to know and do to prepare for a strong start to the year.

  • Keep us updated. Complete your child’s Back to School Information Form by logging onto SmartChoice at enroll.tulsaschools.org.
  • Stay healthy. Protect your child and everyone else in school with a COVID-19 vaccination. Anyone ages 12 and older can be vaccinated; make an appointment today at vaccinate.oklahoma.gov.
  • Check the guidance. Make sure you know when and how long to quarantine for COVID-19 -related close contact or positive test results. Visit www.tulsaschools.org/safety to find our quarantine and isolation guidance.
  • Get prepared. Check your child’s school bell-times, bus schedules, school supply lists, and uniform requirements.
  • Be safe. Our expectation is that every adult and student wears a mask at all times indoors and outdoors when in the presence of others. Click here for more information about COVID-19 safety at Tulsa Public Schools.
  • Mark your checklist. You can find elementary and secondary student back to school checklists on our website at www.tulsaschools.org/backtoschool.

We are also pleased to share that this school year, all students will continue to eat free of charge! The USDA has extended their waivers to allow our Child Nutrition team to serve all students free of charge for the 2021-2022 school year. Every student can receive any of the meals offered in their school’s cafeteria even if they do not have a meal application. We look forward to serving your child healthy and nutritious meals to energize them for a year of learning!

Technology and internet access

Students will continue to use Canvas this year. If you do not have your student’s login directions and credentials, please reach out to your school. If a member of your household participates in a federal government program such as SNAP, Free and Reduced Lunch, or Soonercare, you can receive up to $75 off your internet bill as long as funds are available. This program is for both existing internet customers and families who would like to become internet subscribers. To learn more details and begin the process please go to www.TulsaResponds.org/internet or call 918.900.0918 to speak directly with a navigator. Learn more at getemergencybroadband.org.

Sign up for our Indian Education program

Our Indian Education Program provides resources, support, and opportunities for students, families, teachers, and school leaders to engage in cultural and educational experiences linked to heritage. We offer tutoring, school supplies, cultural services, academic, and other services for native students. Want to sign up for Indian Education? Visit enroll.tulsaschools.org to fill out your 506 form on Smartchoice and upload your tribal documentation. If you need assistance or want to learn more, please email indianed@tulsaschools.org.
