Superintendent Ebony Johnson joined Cox Communications employees to surprise three deserving teachers with grants for their classrooms!

More than 100 applications were submitted through the Cox Charities website from school administrators, teachers, teaching assistants and media specialists in the Tulsa area. The education grants support technology and programs that promote and enhance students' academic success and educational experience.

"Cox Charities is funded by Cox employees right here in Tulsa. Every dollar we grant through our education program is an investment in students’ potential. By supporting teachers’ innovative programs, Cox Charities helps create opportunities that inspire curiosity and prepare students for success,” said Tiffani Bruton, Director of Public Affairs for Cox Communications.

Ten Tulsa Public Schools teachers received grants totaling over $30,000 through Cox's employee-funded program. Pre-K teacher Amber Trochez received $10,000 to start an outdoor garden at Felicitas Mendez International, Cooper art teacher Kim Earickson received $5,000 to revamp her classroom, and English teacher Sommer Baker at Memorial High School received $3,800 to get books for her freshman AP students.
