On National Girls and Women in Sports Day, East Central High School senior Nayeli Vazquez signed her national letter of intent to play Women’s Flag Football at Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas.

Nayeli played for East Central’s undefeated, championship-winning team in the fall of 2024, playing an instrumental role in bringing home the state title for her Fighting Cardinals team during the sport’s inaugural season of competition. She is the first student-athlete in Oklahoma to sign a letter of intent and play flag football at the intercollegiate level. 

"I'm super excited. Very honored," said Nayeli. "I never expected to get any sort of offer or scholarship. I just wanted to play flag football."

Once she completes her degree at Pratt, Nayeli plans to continue her education in pursuit of a law degree.
