Students visit the airport
Tulsa International Airport (TIA) rolled out the welcome mat for 8th graders from Webster Middle School and Monroe Demonstration Academy, giving students a rare peek at what keeps one of Oklahoma's busiest airports running.

The field trip gave students the chance to explore parts of the airport that most travelers never see. From the bustling terminal gates and baggage claim operations to behind- the-scenes areas where ground crews prepare aircraft for departure, the visit turned the airport into a living classroom.

Airport staff guided students through how flight operations are coordinated, explaining the teamwork required to safely move thousands of passengers each day. Students learned about the wide range of careers that keep an airport running — from air traffic control and aircraft mechanics to security, logistics, and customer service.

"I never thought about how many people it takes just to get one plane off the ground," said one student. "It made me think about jobs I'd never considered before."
