Health Data Briefing Jan. 11

This evening, Chief Operations Officer Jorge Robles presented an update on our COVID-19 health data to our Board of Education. The update included a review of the key data that the district uses to assess health and safety conditions in the district and surrounding areas.

Insights from tonight’s data review include:

Foundational Health Care Metrics

  • COVID-19 rates (7 day rolling average) for Tulsa County and the State of Oklahoma are at their highest point.
  • We have no indication that rates will go down soon.

Early Warning Indicators

  • Case counts for staff have gone up after returning from holiday break.
  • Screen and go application is strengthening our health screening efforts.
  • We should expect an effect of vaccinations once rolled out later this month through March before we see substantial decreases in cases.

Foundational System Metrics

  • Staffing levels for teacher and support professionals are areas of concern that we continue to monitor closely.

Vaccination

  • We are working with the Tulsa Health Department on start vaccination for our team members in the 65+ group, plus our nurses and health care assistants.
    • Vaccination will take place in a drive through format
    • People who receive the vaccine will have a designated area to park and wait the required 15 minutes of observation. Staff will be monitoring.
    • Vaccination will be done by Tulsa Health Department personnel.
    • Communication with specifics will go out in the next 24 hours to the team members in the 65+.

Rapid Testing

  • 4 tests positive of asymptomatic opt-ins so far from 324 tests.
  • Working with the Tulsa Health Department to finalize sampling methodology and reporting for surveillance testing of adults and students starting at the end of the month.
