The Tulsa Public Schools Indian Education team will be visiting schools this week to read to students and give out books by Native authors. Students in pre-K through 2nd grade in the Indian Education program will receive a copies of Fry Bread by Kevin Noble Maillard and Hungry Johnny by Cheryl Minnema, They will also get a backpack, bookmark, and activity sheet about the books to do with their families.
Indian Education Coordinator Shari Williams stopped by Disney Elementary on Friday to kick off the giveaways. She read an excerpt from Hungry Johnny to the students before handing out the goodies for them to take home.
