HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD PREPARE FOR STANDARDIZED TESTS:
- Talk to your child about testing and encourage them to do their best.
- Encourage your child to practice at home.
- Make sure that your child is well rested and eats a high protein, low sugar breakfast.
- Make sure your child arrives at school on time.
Multilingual learner students will take the ACCESS test between January 23 and March 23. Your school can provide the exact test schedule for your school and answer other questions about ACCESS testing.
What is the ACCESS test?
The ACCESS test is administered throughout Tulsa Public Schools and the state of Oklahoma to assess multilingual learners’ (students who use more than one language) skills in the four domains of English: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Your child’s school uses ACCESS test scores to determine what level of English support your child needs – and also for class placements for next school year.
Students will receive a score for each domain, as well as an overall score. Parents receive these scores at the beginning of next school year.
Your student can review the test and even take a sample test using the links below:

TPS SPANISH LANGUAGE LINE INTERPRETATION FOR PARENTS
The TPS Spanish Line is an interpretation service that offers Spanish speaking parents direct access to an interpreter when they call Tulsa Public Schools. We hope this option gives parents a greater level of comfort when you need to contact a school or our district offices!
To access the TPS Spanish Line, Spanish speaking parents will need to dial 918-387-8580. The call will be automatically routed to an available professional interpreter who will remain on the line with you for your entire call.
MULTILINGUAL PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MPAC)
The Tulsa Public Schools’ MPAC (Multilingual Parent Advisory Committee) is having a meeting on January 25 at 5:30 pm via Zoom. The MPAC is comprised of parents and guardians of multilingual learners enrolled in Tulsa Public Schools. The MPAC meets monthly to advise the district on matters that are important to multilingual learners and learn about ways they can advocate and support their children’s education. Parents can register to attend this session and receive the Zoom link by completing the MPAC Parent Registration Form. Sessions are currently presented in English and Spanish. Parents who need language supports in additional languages can request an interpreter by completing the online registration form.
Parents will receive the Zoom link through TalkingPoints. MPAC flyers are available here.
