Mask and Safety Update

Leer en Español

Dear parents and families,

I am writing to share an update about an important discussion we intend to have at our next Board of Education meeting on Monday, November 15.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen our COVID-19 case rates continue to decrease county-wide. Vaccination rates are also continuing to increase: more than 75% of Tulsans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. We are also working with local health partners to begin providing vaccination clinics for children ages 5-11 and continuing to host clinics for eligible Tulsans ages 12 and older.

During last week’s board meeting, I shared our intention to consider modifications to our COVID-19 safety practices. One of the changes relates to masking, and I will provide an update on Monday evening about our timeline for starting to roll back our masking expectations. Look for more details about when changes would take effect after Monday’s meeting - we will share those through email and on our website and social media channels.

You can follow the board meeting on Monday evening starting at 6:30pm at www.tulsaschools.org/watchlive. Visit www.tulsaschools.org/board for information about attending board meetings and engaging with our Board of Education.

Thank you for doing your part to keep all of our students safe and healthy.

Best,

Deborah A. Gist

Superintendent
