November is Native American Heritage Month
Our Indian Education team is excited to celebrate Native American Heritage Month with students and families through cultural activities and events all month long! From November 18 to November 22, we invite everyone to join in by wearing colors that reflect cultural knowledge and celebration. You can find a printable schedule here, with more information about each day listed below.

• Monday, Nov. 18: Wear Red for Oklahoma
  Did you know that the name "Oklahoma" comes from the Choctaw language and means "red people"? Oklahoma is home to 39 federally recognized tribes, representing a rich diversity of Native cultures. Help us celebrate by wearing red today!
• Tuesday, Nov. 19: Wear Green for Tribal Land Acknowledgement
  Land acknowledgments are important for recognizing and honoring the Indigenous peoples' connection to their land. Join us in wearing green to highlight this vital aspect of our shared history and culture.
• Wednesday, Nov. 20: Wear Turquoise for Native American Heritage
• Turquoise holds special significance for the Navajo people and represents purity. We encourage everyone to wear turquoise jewelry or clothing to honor Native American heritage.
• Thursday, Nov. 21: Rock Your Mocs
  This day is a worldwide celebration of unity among Native American and Indigenous Peoples. If you have moccasins, wear them with pride! If not, feel free to join in by wearing crocs or fun socks to show your support.
• Friday, Nov. 22: Wear Your Ribbons
  Ribbon skirts are a traditional garment for Indigenous women, symbolizing cultural connection. If you don’t have a ribbon skirt, shirt, or vest, you can still participate by tying a ribbon in your hair or pinning one to your clothes.

Important Graduation Info for Seniors- FAFSA Completion Requirement
New this year: All seniors must complete a FAFSA application in order to graduate, as required by the State Board of Education. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required to get financial aid for most colleges and technical schools. Completing the application can be the first step toward your plans after graduation, whether it’s a two- or four-year college, technical school, or career training! TPS holds regular support sessions where you can learn about the process and create your FSA ID in advance of the application opening December 1. The next session is Saturday, November 9, from 10am to 2pm. Find more information about FAFSA and other resources for Seniors here.

 Mental health support during the holidays
The holiday season can often bring about a mix of emotions, making it a challenging time for many. If you are not feeling the holiday cheer, remember that support is available 24/7 through free and confidential resources for anyone dealing with tough thoughts, emotions, or struggles with substance use. It is important to prioritize self-care during this busy season by:

• Taking small steps each day to focus on your overall health and wellness;
• Listening to your own needs and taking breaks when necessary;
• Being mindful of the signs of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), which can mimic the winter blues; and
• Understanding your feelings and seeking support.

Tulsa Public Schools’ Parent Resource Center (PRC)
After some recent renovations, our Parent Resource Center is once again open and excited to support Tulsa families in-person! We look forward to welcoming you to our updated and refreshed space. Join us for our School Enrichment Event this Saturday, November 9 at the Parent Resource Center (525 E. 46th St. N.) - from 11am-1pm. Families in attendance will receive toiletry bags and more while supplies last. Lunch will be provided, and attendees will be entered to win door prizes. Partner organizations will also be onsite to provide immunizations and resources.
