Dear parents and families,
We know that extraordinary teachers are the heart of successful schools, and our team works hard to ensure that our educators have the support they need to provide the rich learning experiences that your children deserve. You are receiving this letter to make sure you know about your right to access information about the qualifications of your child’s teachers.
The information available to parents at your school includes the certification status, type of certification, licensing status, focus of the teacher’s undergraduate degree, graduate certification, and field of discipline. If your child is receiving services from paraprofessionals, you can also request information about their qualifications.
In the event that your child is taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not hold certification for the content area or grade level for which they are teaching, you will receive notification from the school office.
In addition to the above information, you will be notified if your child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not certified in the content area or grade level in which he or she is placed.
Parents and families of students in Title I schools also have the right to know about state or district policies regarding student participation in any assessments mandated by the Every Student Succeeds Act, including any policies, procedures, or parental rights to opt students out of such assessments.
