Introducing Melany Aguayo, a senior at East Central High School, who is driven by her passion for helping others.

To prepare for college, Melany has been taking courses at Tulsa Community College. Her hard work and academic focus has paid off: she was recently awarded a full ride scholarship to the University of Tulsa. 

She plans to get her bachelor’s degree in psychology and pursue a career in social work to help improve the lives of others. 

Melany’s favorite memory from her senior year was an impromptu performance at a talent show with her band Dead News, in which she plays bass. They performed "Everlong" by Foo Fighters.

Her advice to other seniors?  "Avoid procrastinating. Try not to stress too much and have some hobbies on the side."
