a group photo of students visiting Langston
Seventh and eighth grade students from Webster Middle School and Monroe Demonstration Academy had an opportunity to visit Langston University, Oklahoma's only historically black college and university (HBCU). The campus experiences gave students a firsthand look at college life and helped them start thinking about their future educational goals.

During the visit, students toured the beautiful campus and got to see where college students live, study, and spend their free time.

"I didn't know college campuses were so big!" said one 8th grader. "It was cool to see all the different buildings and think about maybe going here someday."

University representatives talked to our students about the many programs Langston offers, from science and technology to business and the arts. Students learned about scholarships, student organizations, and all the activities available to college students.

The visit also included information about what it takes to get into college (i.e., keeping grades up, being involved in school activities, and preparing for college entrance exams).

Whether they choose Langston or another college, the visit helped students understand that higher education is an achievable goal.
