As we progress through the school year, we want to ensure that every student is set up for success. We understand that the middle school years can be challenging, and we want to share some strategies to help prevent any potential setbacks that might lead to a student being held back. As we begin the second quarter of this school year, we want to remind families of the importance of monitoring your student’s progress, grades, and attendance.
Additionally, we want to ensure that families are familiar with the policy established by the school board that addresses the promotion of students into the next grade. To learn more about the Tulsa Public Schools policy 2406 concerning the promotion, retention, and failing grades of students, read the full policy here. Students who do not meet credit requirements in middle school will be required to attend summer school or be retained in their grade.
In addition to being aware of how your student is doing, we encourage students and families to take advantage of the resources available to support academic success. All schools have tutoring and/or extra help available for students who may be struggling with a course or concept. For specific information on tutoring schedules, please contact the counseling office at your student’s school.
