Tulsa Public Schools and the Department of Human Services are working in partnership to better support families of students with disabilities. Our teams collaborate to offer guidance, resources, and advocacy so that families and students can thrive. While we focus on students in special education, we can also assist other children in the home as needed.

How we can support your family:

Family Support & Advocacy

• Help you understand your rights and school processes
• Assist with identifying accommodations and services your child may need
• Connect you with additional support if needed

Resources & Connections

• Help find community resources like healthcare, counseling, and housing
• Assist with transportation, personal care, or other essential needs
• Support with state benefits such as SoonerCare, SoonerSelect, or SNAP

Training & Guidance

• Provide workshops for families on school engagement and advocacy
• Help school staff understand your child’s needs
• Guide staff on responding to concerns about abuse or neglect

Collaboration & Problem Solving

• Work with your child’s school to develop support plans
• Connect schools with DHS and other agencies to make sure services continue smoothly

Crisis Support

• Help families during emergencies or difficult situations
• Assist with Child Welfare referrals and explain the process

Community Engagement

• Attend school events to share resources and information
• Coordinate programs and initiatives to help families
• Provide follow-up support to ensure your needs are met
