Tulsa Public Schools is encouraging all eighth grade students in the district to apply for the new early college high school program that will launch at McLain High School and Memorial High School in the 2021-2022 school year. Students are invited to get one-on-one help with their applications on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Monroe Demonstration Academy, 2010 E. 48th St. N. Students can sign up to attend the application workshop at www.tulsaschools.org/EDGEsupport.
All 8th graders in the district are eligible to apply for this free program that gives students the chance to complete an associate’s degree while they earn their diploma at either McLain High School or Memorial High School. Students must apply to attend either McLain Early College High School or Memorial Early College High School in the 2021-2022 school year. Applications are due by Friday, Feb. 12, and families can begin the application process by logging onto SmartChoice at enroll.tulsaschools.org. During Saturday’s workshop, students will learn about the early college high school program, participate in a “Writer’s Workshop” to help with the essay portion of their application, and receive one-on-one support to successfully complete their application within the same day. Students who complete the application process will also have their names entered into a raffle and be eligible to win gift cards from Fulton Street Coffee & Books and from Rose Rock Microcreamery. Lunch will be provided.
District staff will continue to follow COVID-19 health and safety guidelines for health screenings, personal protective equipment, and safe distancing. Parents and families are asked to follow City of Tulsa safety guidance around face masks and safe distancing.
