Bobbi Richins and Jillian Swets

In a gathering at the University of Tulsa’s Allen Chapman Student Union, Tulsa Public Schools announced the district’s 2025 Teacher of the Year and 2025 Support Professional of the Year. McLain High School career technology teacher Jillian Swets was named as the 2025 Tulsa Public Schools Teacher of the Year and Edison Preparatory principal's secretary Bobbi Richins was named as the 2025 Support Professional of the Year.

“From the first person a new student meets in the front office to a teacher equipping her classes with real-world career skills – Jillian and Bobbi illustrate the wraparound support that Tulsa Public Schools provides to equip every student for growth and success,” said Superintendent Dr. Ebony Johnson. “Nothing compares to what dedicated people accomplish with our young people. I am so grateful for the extraordinary commitment from our Teacher and Support Professional of the Year to our young people, to their teams, and to their broader school communities.”

Jillian Swets is a career tech teacher at McLain High School. She joined the team five years ago teaching math and science and now teaches hydroponics, renewable energy, and Google tools. She uses her passion for environmental advocacy to develop the program and get students involved in hands-on STEM learning.

Bobbi Richins is the principal’s secretary at Edison Preparatory Middle and High School. She has worked for Tulsa Public Schools for 17 years, and 11 of those have been at Edison. She has held many jobs in Tulsa Public Schools and said she has loved them all. She enjoys helping students in their pursuit of education in any way she can.
