Tulsa Public Schools Continues Work to Provide Vaccines to Team Tulsa

We are excited to have our students back in their school buildings, receiving an invaluable education from our amazing educators! We are focusing efforts and taking many precautions to reduce and ultimately prevent the spread of COVID-19 to our students, teachers, and building staff.

Part of those many efforts is to provide our team opportunities to schedule and receive their COVID-19 vaccinations. We are thrilled to work with the Tulsa Health Department and all of our Tulsa County partners to ensure that every team member at Tulsa Public Schools who wants to be vaccinated has an opportunity to do so.

In January, we partnered with the Tulsa Health Department to begin providing our team members 65 and older, first responders such as campus police, and healthcare staff such as school nurses and nurse assistants a way to sign up and receive their first dose of the vaccination at either Carver Middle School or Memorial Middle School. As of March 8, 2021, almost 400 Tulsa Public Schools team members received their COVID-19 vaccinations at a district-based clinic.

"I am so thankful and appreciative to the Tulsa Public Schools administration joining the Tulsa Health department to offer teachers their vaccinations first,” said Judith Ide during her second vaccination shot. Judith is a 3rd-grade math teacher for the Tulsa Virtual Academy and was the first member of Team Tulsa to receive her vaccination through a Carver Middle School clinic. “I encourage everyone to go get it; I had no reactions whatsoever to the first shot. I feel a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.”

We are continuing to work with the Tulsa Health Department to make the vaccine available to all Tulsa Public School staff. In fact, our fearless leader Superintendent Deborah Gist is scheduled to receive her vaccination on March 10, 2021.

Every week, Chief Devin Fletcher sends out updates to Tulsa Public Schools employees with available dates to schedule their COVID-19 vaccinations. Please continue to check your email and visit the Tulsa Public Schools website for updates.

Team Tulsa members can email their pictures or selfies with their vaccination card or “I Got Vaccinated” sticker to TPSinfo@tulsaschools.org, along with their name and their school or team name!
