Tulsa Public Schools welcomes international teachers for 2026 school year

At an event in September, Tulsa Public Schools' Language and Cultural Services team and members of the Tulsa Global Alliance celebrated new and returning international teachers! Teachers from Ghana, China, France, and more had the opportunity to speak to the group and learn more about one another.

International teachers meet and greet at event.

Anna Kennedy, the international teacher program coordinator at TPS, shared more about the opportunities provided for our students through this program:

"Over 150 international teachers from 33 countries have chosen to teach in our district. Through our international teacher program, students gain access to certified teachers, global perspectives, multilingual experiences, and culturally responsive instruction in all content areas. If our students can't see the world, we will bring the world to our students.

Anna Kennedy speaks during international teacher event.

"Supporting our new international teachers as they relocate to Tulsa is very meaningful to me. My goal is for them to build a strong network here to make Tulsa feel like home. I enjoy connecting them with current teachers and the Tulsa community so they can thrive in their classrooms. It is encouraging to see the passion, enthusiasm, and fresh perspectives they bring to their students."

Through this coming school year, we look forward to hearing more about the ways that these teachers are impacting the lives of Tulsa's students. Welcome to Tulsa!
