Thank you Tulsa voters graphic

Tulsans voted Tuesday to approve all four propositions of the Strong Schools, Strong Tulsa bond measure, which will invest $609 million into Tulsa Public Schools to increase student opportunities, upgrade and enhance learning environments and safety, provide modernized technology, and improve access to transportation.

“We are so thankful to the great city of Tulsa and its residents, who with their votes made it clear that access to safe learning environments and modern resources is a shared priority of the community,” said Dr. Ebony Johnson, Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent. “Thanks to your support, we will continue the important work of investing in our young people while prioritizing student outcomes.”

Propositions 1 and 2 will invest nearly $500 million into upgrading learning environments through security, remodeling, and HVAC repairs, while also providing more enriching student opportunities through new instructional materials, career academies and physical education. Proposition 3 allocates more than $100 million into technology and cybersecurity. Proposition 4 invests more than $27 million into transportation upgrades, including the reintroduction of free, in-school driver’s education access.

Under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. Ebony Johnson the last two years, attendance is at a three-year high across Tulsa Public Schools, proficiency rates have increased for every grade for both math and English Language Arts compared to 2023, and 42 schools across the district increased their points on the state’s annual A-F report card.

The 2026 Strong Schools, Strong Tulsa bond will not raise the tax rate for Tulsans and replaces the 2021 bond, which helped provide important STEM programming, expanded access to programs for all students, and provided critical educational technology for students and staff. Bond projects and investments were made after a lengthy review and identification process conducted by the Citizen Bond Development Committee. In keeping with previous bond passages, a Citizens Oversight Committee will be formed next to begin planning and implementing the vision of the Citizens Bond Development Committee.
