Families gathered in the gym at Eugene Field Elementary to watch their kindergarten students mark the end of the year with a Montessori bridging ceremony. The bridging ceremony symbolizes the transition from Children's House to Lower Elementary.
Children's House teachers sent each student across the bridge with a paper heart to represent a piece of their heart they would be taking with them, and a Lower Elementary teacher welcomed them on the other side.
This is the first year for the Montessori program at Eugene Field Elementary. In Montessori classrooms, students learn in multi-age groups that encourage them to explore and discover.
