Students dressed in outfits from the 1920's smiling with Mayor Monroe Nichols and Board Member John Croisant

Lanier Elementary celebrated their 100-year anniversary with an open house! Students worked hard leading up to the event by researching and learning about what Tulsa was like when the school first opened. Each grade level had a different project that was on display.

Pre-K through 1st grade students learned about toys, games, and candy from 100 years ago. Second graders researched transportation. Third graders compared what things cost in the 1920s vs the 2020s. Fourth graders studied the impact and invention of the radio. They worked on a broadcast that played in the hallways during the open house. Fifth graders researched arts and culture, and then put together an educational video about everything they learned.

A group of students also had the honor of giving Mayor Monroe Nichols and Board Member John Croisant a tour of the school and all their hard work.
