Two McLain High School sophomores, Katherine Duncan and Yadira Aguilar, have earned their spot in the cosmetology program at Tulsa Tech next school year. The cosmetology program is a very competitive program, as students from Tulsa and surrounding towns try to get one of the limited spots.
Katherine and Yadira worked hard to improve their grades and MAP scores to qualify for the program and both earned 98 out of 100 points on the application.
Katherine is excited to begin the program in the fall as she follows in the footsteps of her family.
"My grandma was a cosmetologist and my aunt works at the salon too and my mom and other aunt are in cosmetology school right now."
She is most interested in learning about hair and lash techniques. Yadira is looking forward to meeting new people and learning new skills as she prepares for her future.
