Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance recently recognized Monroe Demonstration Academy’s teacher, De’Ira Taylor, as one of the Siegfried Excellence in STEM Education Award Finalists for 2025. This award is given to teachers who inspire students through innovative, STEM-infused teaching strategies.

De’Ira is dedicated to bringing equity to all of her students, with an emphasis on community connection and mentorship opportunities. She works hard to secure the necessary resources for students, including those with disabilities or from low-income backgrounds. She has organized STEM-focused events to further engage learners, and regularly goes above and beyond to create an innovative and motivational classroom setting.

Each finalist received a $4,000 grant to help empower continued innovation in the classroom, as well as a $1,000 cash prize as a thanks to the teacher’s personal dedication. They have been invited to Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance’s Flight Night gala on September 18, where the overall winner will be announced.
