Students at Monroe Demonstration Academy have the opportunity to gain hands-on learning experience and explore their interests in career technology classes.

In sixth grade, students can take Computer Science Discovery / STEM Careers, where they develop computer science, technology, and problem-solving skills. They may try their hand at game coding or show off their creative side with music production.

In seventh grade, students build on their STEM skills by working on website design, CO2 dragsters, self-propelled airplanes, structural engineering, and drones to connect concepts to real-world applications.

Once they reach 8th grade, they can even earn high school credit and a certification in Microsoft Suite through Fundamentals of Technology.

"These classes spark curiosity, develop critical thinking, and help students discover interests they might pursue in high school and beyond," said Monroe career techology teacher DeIra Taylor. "Career tech classes are crucial because they introduce middle school students to a range of skills and career possibilities early on."
