The agriculture science program at Webster is one of a kind for Tulsa Public Schools. Students have the opportunity to learn about plants, animals, and equipment through hands-on experience.
Throughout the year, horticulture students can grow flowers and vegetables in the greenhouse, students in the veterinary class can practice on dog and cat manikins, and equine science students can take field trips to see equine veterinarians in action.
"It's important for students to be engaged in career tech courses because it opens up a world that they may not have been aware of," said Webster agricultural educator Alaina Fornal. "Agriculture courses show students what it takes for food to go from the farm to their table, what it takes to become a veterinarian, or a welder, and lets them know that there are more opportunities out there."
