representatives cut the ribbon at Webster

The Webster community celebrated the new building additions for their music and agriculture departments with a ribbon cutting in January.

The school's FFA members welcomed guests and the band performed as everyone settled into their seats. Superintendent Ebony Johnson, Webster principal Jen Baugess, and Board of Education President Stacey Woolley spoke during the ceremony.

"We would not be here today celebrating this moment without the generous support of Tulsans in the 2021 bond," said Dr. Johnson. "Since 1996, Tulsans have consistently voted in support of school bonds that fund projects like this beautiful facility."

For the music department, one of the buildings was expanded to create space for a world-class music room with storage for instruments. The room also serves as a FEMA-certified storm shelter. Down the hall, band and orchestra students have access to individual practice rooms.

For the agriculture department, a state-of-the-art aquaponic and hydroponic greenhouse facility was constructed next to their agriculture building, which now features remodeled science labs and new STEM equipment for students to use as well.

"Our students learn about teamwork, perseverance, and responsibility through participation in the arts and engagement opportunities like agri-science," Said Board President Stacey Woolley. "We know these kinds of experiences provide opportunities for students to explore and develop their skills, interests, and passions – and to access their immense potential."
