Senior Michael Kelley was surprised this morning with a full ride scholarship to the school he's been dreaming of since the 9th grade: The University of Tulsa! Superintendent Deborah Gist and University of Tulsa President Brad Carson presented Michael with the exciting news shocking both his family from the audience.
What his mom thought was just an award assembly turned into something much bigger for her and her family.
One of Michael's teachers, Timothy Crisp, said he couldn't think of anyone else more deserving for the scholarship: "He has been hard working and dedicated and he stands out among his peers as someone who really perseveres and tries."
Michael is taking concurrent classes at The University of Tulsa right now but is excited to start as a full-time student this fall. He said he's interested in cybersecurity or electrical engineering and is grateful that his scholarship includes free tuition, room and board, and textbooks.
