Gifted and Talented Education
Gifted Education and Talent Development Services (GETD)
Tulsa Public Schools Gifted Education and Talent Development Services provides specialized services for students identified as gifted. These services provide appropriate challenge and learning experiences designed to develop advanced thinking and abilities.
Giftedness and Talent Development
Gifted students are not a single type of learner. They may demonstrate advanced abilities in different ways, and those abilities may develop differently over time.
Tulsa Public Schools approaches gifted education through a talent-development lens. In GETD, talent development is the process of helping students develop their advanced potential through challenging learning experiences and opportunities to think in increasingly complex ways over time. In this context, “talent development” describes our approach to gifted education; it does not mean that GETD provides specialized instruction in every area in which a student may show talent.
Through gifted education, students have opportunities to think deeply and creatively, explore complex ideas, engage in sustained inquiry, and solve challenging problems.
