Organizational Learning and Equity
Our Shared Core Value of Equity
Equity is the leading core value at Tulsa Public Schools. Valuing equity means that we must provide resources and supports matched to student need, for every student in every school. We have a collective responsibility for interrupting and transforming systemic educational inequities so that social and cultural factors such as race and language are no longer predictors of student success.
OUR COMMITMENTS TO EXCELLENCE IN EQUITY
intentionally honor
diversity
Our diversity is a community treasure. We honor our diversity by working to be culturally responsive educators and building a culture of inclusion and acceptance in a way that actively challenges systemic inequities.
courageously discuss inequities
Engaging in productive dialogue about bias is challenging but necessary to figure out better ways to educate our children. We acknowledge biases are contributing factors in disproportionate student outcomes and hold challenging conversations across difference.
Authentically engage communities
Communities must be empowered to advocate for their children. We work to engage our community, families, and school teams in decision making in ways that are meaningful and authentic.
continuously learn and improve
Interrupting systemic inequities starts with humility and curiosity. We continuously work to examine our personal and organizational biases, policies, and practices, while taking action to improve student outcomes.
