Dear Tulsa Transition Academy Interns & Families,

Welcome to Tulsa Transition Academy!

We are excited to partner with you as you begin another year of learning, growing, and preparing for adult life. At Tulsa Transition Academy, our mission is to empower every intern to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to lead a meaningful and fulfilling adult life.

This program is much more than a school experience—it is a bridge to adulthood. Through individualized instruction, independent living skill development, community-based learning, employment readiness experiences, and meaningful partnerships, we help each intern build the knowledge and confidence needed to achieve their personal goals.

Throughout the year, interns will have opportunities to:

• Build workplace readiness skills through internships and community employment experiences.
• Increase independence in daily living, personal responsibility, and self-advocacy.
• Explore postsecondary education, training, and career opportunities.
• Develop social, communication, and interpersonal skills that support success in work and community settings.
• Participate in authentic community experiences that promote inclusion and lifelong learning.

Our dedicated staff is committed to creating a supportive, respectful, and engaging environment where every intern is known, valued, and challenged to reach their highest potential. As an intern, we encourage you to take ownership of your learning, advocate for yourself, embrace new experiences, and continue building the skills that will help you become as independent as possible. Families are an essential part of this journey. Your encouragement, collaboration, and partnership are invaluable as we prepare your young adult for life beyond school. Together, we will celebrate accomplishments, navigate challenges, and support each intern's unique transition to adulthood.

Employment Skills 

The goal is to help our students gain meaningful employment, increase independence, and enhance quality of life through active participation in the workforce. 

Community Living

The goal is to equip our students with the skills needed to live as independently as possible, connect with their community, and enjoy a fulfilling adult life. 

Independent Living

Independent living skills prepare our students to manage daily life with greater autonomy and confidence. We focus on direct instruction, guided practice, and real-world application to help our students reach their highest level of independence.

We envision a future where every young adult graduates with the confidence, skills, and opportunities to live, work and thrive as an active member of the community.  

Mission

Tulsa Transition Academy empowers young adults with disabilities to successfully transition to adult life through individualized, community-based instruction that develops employment, education, community participation, independent living, self-determination skills.
