The Memorial Middle School InCharge program is a blended learning model that includes one-to-one mentoring, self-directed learning, and hands-on projects that reflect the problems our students will face in the future. Personalized learning is a student-centered approach to instruction that gives students control over the pace and path they take toward their learning goals.
In addition to traditional classroom instruction, students spend part of each day learning independently online and part of each day working on projects in small groups. During personalized learning time, teachers facilitate student learning and tutor small groups of students or individuals who need the extra help.
Through the ECAM (Exploring Curriculum Advising and Mentoring) Program, students meet with a dedicated mentor who gets to know them personally and helps them set and achieve their academic goals. Students learn how to make a plan for achievement, reflect on their learning, and develop the habits and mindsets that will help them be successful in college, career, and in life!
Memorial Junior High students in robotics class

Our afterschool robotics program provides students with hands on learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Robotics gives students the opportunity to use their knowledge and imagination to dream big and create something new. With 3D modeling and computer-aided design, our students build drones, underwater robots, quad-flyers, and more.

  • Engage in self-paced, self-directed learning in 21st century classrooms;
  • Work with their teachers and peers to develop content mastery in their learning programs; and
  • Learn and grow in a forward-thinking school community that is using technology to transform teaching and learning.

I am given the chance to experience, play, and be immersed in a diverse learning environment. I was able to participate in the robotics club which gets me ready for my future. I know I want to do something in engineering, like building planes or designing something for the world to use. Here I get to design, model, build drones, and use a 3D printer. My experience at Memorial [Middle School] has prepared me for that future.Memorial Middle School alumnus
