Adult English Classes
In partnership with the YWCA-Tulsa, the office of Language and Cultural Services offers tuition-free English classes to non-English speaking parents in Tulsa Public Schools. Parents attend class 8 hours a week Monday through Thursday for 18 weeks.
Classes are designed to engage the parents in the school system, support them in their ability to connect with the school, and address multiple levels of English capabilities.
Classes are led by an instructor endorsed or certified in methods and techniques of teaching English as a second language, who uses a nationally recognized curriculum that incorporates digital literacy, English language development, and career exploration. One day a week, the curriculum incorporates family literacy and school engagement activities. This includes take-home activities parents can do with children to support learning at home, detailed information on how to utilize PowerSchool, and information on how to prepare for parent/teacher conferences.
Enrollment is on a first come first serve basis and space is limited. Good attendance is required.
Fall English classes begin in September
Registration will open in August
