An important message for Tulsa Public Schools team members:
After another day of extremely difficult weather conditions, we know that many of you may be commuting into work from areas affected by flooding. We are also managing with flooding issues at several school sites. To ensure that you have the time and flexibility you need to travel to your schools and work-sites safely, we will open all schools and district office buildings on a two-hour delay. Unless you already have a scheduled vacation, personal, or sick day, all Tulsa Public Schools employees who are scheduled to work should plan to report at 10am.
Please use extreme caution while traveling, take your time, and be safe. As has been our past practice, hourly employees scheduled to work will still be paid for the two-hour delay. Use your judgement and keep yourself safe. If you need more time, please alert your manager.
Team – your safety is paramount. If you are living in an area where you cannot safely make the commute to work, please reach out to your supervisor, manager, or school leader to determine how to account for the time. If you know that you live in a flood plain, we urge you to take proactive precautions to keep you and your family safe. The City of Tulsa has provided a list of precautions that you can take if you live in an area at high risk for flooding.
We are in continuous contact with the Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Tulsa to assess current conditions, understand the forecasts, and identify potential risks to our team members and schools. We are in a situation that is changing rapidly, and we are working urgently to make the best decisions we can based on the information available to us. It will be important tomorrow that you are regularly checking email or the website (at least every half hour beginning at 7:00 am) to stay updated on our plans.
Again, please put safety first for you and your family and make sure that you are taking any appropriate steps that you need to take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Our district offices will operate with a two and a half hour delay, opening at 10:30 a.m. All district office employees should plan to report to work at 10:30 a.m. Please use extreme caution while traveling, take your time, and be safe.
