FRIENDS, FUN & FREE FOOD!
Summer Café (formerly known as the Summer Food Service Program) provides NUTRITIOUS MEALS FREE OF CHARGE TO ANY CHILD AGES 18 AND UNDER during the summer months. No documentation is required. Tulsa Public Schools has participated in this federally funded program for over 30 years. Unfortunately, the program is little known despite all of the wonderful benefits it has provided to our community through mutiple Tulsa locations.
During the school year, 84% or four out of five students in Tulsa schools rely on free or reduced price meals to receive the nutrition they need. Ever wondered what those same kids do for food during the summer? Sadly the answer to that question is they often go hungry or be undernourished.
: In 2014, the Summer Café program served over 67,000 breakfasts and over 104,000 lunches. This summer, the program runs June 1 – August 14. We are looking to drastically increase those numbers. There are certainly thousands of hungry kids that are not aware of the program but with your assistance they soon will be.
